Words build, words break: Art Against Hate Speech

Este é o resultado de um desafio lançado aos alunos no âmbito da temática “Discurso de ódio”, temática relacionada com a unidade curricular de Inglês, do 10.º ano, ”Mass Media”, a par com a disciplina de Desenho A e a área de Cidadania e Desenvolvimento. Os alunos dispuseram de um guião escrito, que descreveria o projeto que iriam concretizar nas aulas de Desenho. Para a implementação do projeto, os alunos usufruíram de uma sessão/aula sobre liberdade de expressão versus discurso de ódio, dinamizada pela professora bibliotecária.

A professora de Inglês disponibilizou duas aulas para a concretização do texto, que foi aprimorado e terminado em contexto extra-aula. Os alunos, no geral, mostraram-se empenhados e interessados pelo tema. Os seus trabalhos finais são disso reflexo. Alguns alunos foram também orientados pela professora da EMAEI.

This is the result of a challenge given to the students within the theme of “Hate Speech,” a topic related to the 10th-grade English curriculum unit “Mass Media,” together with the subject “Desenho A” and “Cidadania e Desenvolvimento”. The students were provided with a written guide that outlined the project they would carry out using the classes of “Desenho A”. To implement the project, the students participated in a session/class on freedom of expression versus hate speech, provided by the lybrarian teacher.

The English teacher allocated two classes for the completion of the project, which was further refined and finished outside of class time. Overall, the students demonstrated commitment and interest in the topic. Their final projects reflect this. Some students were also mentored by the EMAEI teacher.
